The controversy between Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad and former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Pantami, has taken a new turn, with Naja’atu reportedly sending a delegation to seek forgiveness and pursue reconciliation with the former minister.
On Saturday night, Naja’atu Muhammad reportedly dispatched a delegation led by Gwani Yusuf Hamza, the Sarkin Hafizai of Hausaland and Chairman of the National Council of Qur’anic Memorizers, to meet with representatives and associates of Professor Pantami.
The delegation met with prominent figures associated with Pantami, including Alhaji Abubakar Ahmad Walama, the Sarkin Malaman Gombe, and Professor Muhammad Bello, a former Director-General of Galaxy Backbone.
Others who received the delegation included Alhaji Hussaini, Dan Amar of Gombe, alongside other elders and young people close to Professor Pantami.
Sources close to Our Correspondent in Gombe, said the main purpose of the visit was to convey Naja’atu’s message of apology and reconciliation to Pantami over remarks she made several months ago during a television programme in which she commented on the former minister.
The development follows a heated public controversy that generated considerable attention on social media and among followers of Northern Nigerian politics. The latest move is therefore being viewed as an attempt to de-escalate the disagreement and bring the two sides together.
According to sources familiar with the development, the delegation focused on reconciliation and conveyed the message that the previous remarks had been reconsidered, with an appeal for the matter to be brought to an end through mutual understanding and respect.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from Professor Pantami or his representatives detailing his response to the apology. It remains unclear whether the former minister has accepted the gesture or what further steps may follow.
However, the decision to send a delegation has already introduced a new dimension to the dispute, raising expectations that the disagreement between the two prominent figures could be resolved through dialogue rather than continued public exchanges.
The development also underscores the growing importance of reconciliation and mutual respect among influential Northern figures, particularly at a time when political and social issues across the region continue to attract intense public attention.
