Former Governor of Sokoto State and Senator representing Sokoto South, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has filed a suit against the Sokoto State Government over alleged failure to release the report of the probe panel on his administration.
Tambuwal, through his counsel U.O. Sule, SAN, filed the case marked SS/133/2026 before Justice Mohammed Mohammed of High Court No. 6, Sokoto.
Respondents in the suit include Governor Ahmed Aliyu, the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, and the Judicial Commission of Inquiry itself.
The former governor is challenging the non-release of the committee report set up to investigate his administration’s activities from 2015 to 2023.
It will be recalled that the state government in July 2023 constituted a Judicial Commission of Inquiry chaired by Justice Mu’azu Pindiga (rtd) to probe Tambuwal’s tenure.
The panel later submitted its report alleging over N117 billion misappropriation, citing disregard for procurement laws, weak financial controls and abuse of office.
Governor Aliyu had said the commission was not a witch-hunt but a constitutional duty to strengthen transparency and accountability.
However, Tambuwal insists he has a right to be served the full report to enable him to respond to the allegations and protect his fundamental rights.
The court is expected to fix a date for hearing after service of the court processes on all respondents.
No official reaction has come from the Sokoto State Government as of press time.
