A wave of resignations has hit the administration of Governor Dikko Umar Radda, fueling speculation of political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The latest is the Commander-General of the Katsina State Hisbah Board, Dr Aminu Usman, popularly known as Abu Ammar, who resigned with immediate effect on October 5.
In his letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Usman did not state any reason for his resignation, but thanked Governor Radda for the confidence and opportunity to serve.
He said it was an honour to contribute to the peace, security and moral well-being of the state, and prayed for continued peace and prosperity in Katsina.
His exit comes days after the Chairman of the Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Kabir Bature Sarkin Alhazai, also tendered his resignation without giving reasons.
Sarkin Alhazai, appointed in 2023, became the third appointee to leave the government in recent days, adding to the pattern of departures.
Earlier reports indicated that two Special Assistants to the Governor resigned and moved to the political camp of Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Political Affairs.
The movement is seen in political circles as an indication of emerging realignments within the Katsina APC as actors position themselves for 2027.
As of now, the state government has not issued an official statement on replacements, while observers say the resignations are testing Governor Radda’s hold on his political structure.
