Naval Officer Lieutenant Adam Muhammad Yerima, known for confronting FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, allegedly bypassed airport screening at Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, and attempted to board a ValueJet Airlines flight with a pistol.
Lt. Yerima entered the boarding terminal through the military wing, avoiding standard civilian security screening procedures. When stopped by airline officials, he accused ValueJet of “disrespect” for preventing him from boarding with the firearm, which is prohibited on commercial flights unless properly declared and handled.
The incident has sparked debate, with some questioning the officer’s actions and others pointing to a pattern of military personnel refusing to submit to standard boarding procedures. The Nigerian military reportedly wrote to ValueJet, demanding an apology for stopping Yerima. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has come under scrutiny for allegedly failing to address similar security breaches ¹ .
Yerima gained public attention in November 2025 after a viral video showed him standing firm against Minister Wike over a land dispute, with many praising his composure and professionalism ⁵ ⁶.
