The Department of State Services (DSS) has reopened the 2019 case of Abubakar Idris, aka Dadiyata, a government critic who disappeared in Kaduna.
The DSS is investigating former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who allegedly masterminded the kidnapping. El-Rufai’s passport was seized at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to prevent him from fleeing to Egypt.
The DSS alleges El-Rufai was aware of the investigation and planned to visit the EFCC and ICPC before leaving Nigeria.
El-Rufai had claimed a policeman confessed to being part of a team sent from Kano to abduct Dadiyata, but the DSS finds this suspicious, citing social media posts by El-Rufai’s sons suggesting Dadiyata was a problem for their family.
