Security agents are once again demanding N100 from drivers on the Zamfara-Sokoto highway, a longstanding issue plating Nigeria’s roads.
This practice affects food prices and the economy, with drivers reporting demands ranging from N4,000 to N6,000 at checkpoints.
The Nigerian government has tried to tackle this problem, with governors pledging to dismantle unauthorized checkpoints and streamline levies.
However, the practice persists, with reports of corruption and harassment at checkpoints.
