Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of unfairly distributing ₦500 billion in palliative funds, favoring states governed by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lawal claims Zamfara State, an opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stronghold, hasn’t received any federal intervention funds since 2023 .
Lawal attributes this exclusion to his party affiliation, stating, “I believe this is because I am not part of their party.”
Despite this, his administration continues to implement projects using statutory allocations, without taking new loans. Monthly deductions of ₦1.2 billion from Zamfara’s allocation service existing debts.
The governor dismissed speculation about defecting from the PDP, emphasizing his commitment to resolving internal party issues.
Lawal’s allegations highlight growing tensions between opposition governors and the federal government over perceived favoritism in resource allocation.
