
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) raided the Abuja residence of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on Thursday, amid ongoing investigations into alleged financial misconduct during his tenure.
El-Rufai’s lawyer, Ubong Akpan, condemned the raid as “unlawful and a clear violation of legal procedures and fundamental rights”.
The ICPC confirmed El-Rufai is in their custody, stating he’s being held “in connection with ongoing investigations” without disclosing further details.
The raid is linked to allegations of Financial improprieties during El-Rufai’s tenure as Kaduna State Governor (2015-2023), including a N423 Billion fund diversion probe.
