Drama unfolded at the Kaduna State High Court today as former Governor Nasir El-Rufai was overheard discussing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) convention scheduled for tomorrow.
El-Rufai, who is facing trial for alleged abuse of office and fraud, asked an associate, “So tomorrow is our convention, right?” The associate responded, “God willing”.
El-Rufai’s comments suggest he’s still actively involved in the party despite his ongoing legal battles.
The ADC has described the prosecution as politically motivated, while the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) insists due process is being followed.
El-Rufai’s bail hearing is set for April 14, coinciding with the ADC national convention.
He’s facing multiple charges, including money laundering and fraud, involving N579.6 million and $1.1 million.
