
Bandits have attacked Bukkuyum Local Government in Zamfara State, killing 20 people. The victims have been buried according to Islamic customs.
The attack occurred at night in Bunkasau, Yar Galma, and Dogon Daji areas of the local government. The bandits targeted civilians, leaving several others injured.
Governor Dauda Lawal has condemned the attack, describing it as “unfortunate and heartless”. He has directed a special team, led by the Deputy Governor, to visit the affected areas, provide support to the families, and ensure medical attention for the injured.
The Zamfara State Police Command has been alerted, and security personnel are working to restore order in the area. The attack is part of a series of banditry incidents in the state, with over 1,000 people killed in Bukkuyum alone since 2015.
The government and security agencies are working to address the insecurity challenge in the region. The incident has caused concern among residents, with many calling for increased security measures to prevent future attacks.
