The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, was among prominent political leaders who accompanied the Acting Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Organisation, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, on a courtesy visit to His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, at his palace in Sokoto.
The visit marked the official first outing of the APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Organisation, as the party begins grassroots mobilisation and strategic consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The engagement followed a massive prayer session organised by Senator Yari, which was attended by thousands of Islamic clerics and other well-wishers.
Speaking at the Sultan’s palace, Senator Yari highlighted the achievements of the present administration and pledged that the campaign would be conducted peacefully and responsibly. He also expressed confidence in the party’s grassroots support, jokingly stating his ambition to mobilise 20 million votes for the APC.
“We are here to seek your fatherly blessing as the campaign is about to take off. We equally thank you for the support you have continued to give to the present administration,” Senator Yari said.
Responding, His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, welcomed the delegation and advised politicians to conduct their activities peacefully and responsibly. He described politics as a “game of numbers, not of death,” urging political actors to avoid exploiting regional, ethnic or religious differences for political gains.
The Sultan also called on Nigerians to critically assess the promises made by political parties and candidates before making their choices at the polls.
The delegation included prominent political figures such as the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris; Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu; Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal; former APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; Senator Adamu Aliero; and other prominent party leaders and stakeholders.
