Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has alleged that Nigeria’s national budgets for 2023, 2024, and 2025 were not implemented, with funds diverted for vote-buying purposes.
Speaking at a public address in Abuja, Tambuwal stated, “I am a Senator, and I am telling you the truth”.
Tambuwal, a former Sokoto governor, claimed the funds meant for development were looted and pocketed, citing a decline in development allocations from over $300 million in 2022 to approximately $201 million in 2025.
He accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of exacerbating insecurity, poverty, and hunger.
The allegations have sparked widespread reactions, with calls for transparency and accountability in public spending.
The Presidency has previously defended its budget implementation record, but Tambuwal’s remarks are expected to intensify scrutiny over government finances.
