
Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf’s defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) has indeed triggered a series of challenges, particularly with regards to the deputy governor position and emirate issues in Kano State.
The APC is currently battling internal conflicts, with various factions pushing for their preferred candidates to fill the vacant deputy governor position.Â
Yusuf’s decision to leave the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) for the APC has also sparked tensions with his former mentor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who has moved to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Kwankwaso has accused Yusuf of betraying the trust reposed in him, while Yusuf has vowed to ensure the APC wins in Kano State, citing the party’s achievements and his vision for the state’s development.
Yusuf has been tasked by President Bola Tinubu to ensure the APC’s victory in Kano State ahead of the 2027 elections, which adds pressure to his already strained position.
The governor has been wooing former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau back to the APC, hoping to strengthen the party’s chances in the state.
Already, the move and support for Gawuna has triggered another waves that Yusuf may not finds it easy to has a soft landing . Gawuna and Kwankwaso’s silent defection to ADC really triggered APC nursing for Shakarau. But Gawuna is strong Loyalist of Shakarau. Considering the fact that Shekarau members refuse to align with his defection.
However, his defection has as parked rumors of collecting bribe which he quickly denied yesterday through his Media Aide Sule Ya’u Sule.
