Ismail Azizi from Tanzania has become the subject of a viral documentary after reportedly dying and coming back to life six times, a claim that has left both doctors and his local community stunned.
According to the Afrimax English documentary shared via Nairaland, Azizi was first declared dead following a serious workplace accident. He was taken to the morgue and preparations for his burial began before he woke up and walked out on his own.
He described the experience to Afrimax, saying he felt extremely cold in the morgue and walked out when he realized it was not fully closed. His family reportedly fled when they saw him, believing he was a ghost.
Similar incidents followed after a battle with malaria, a car crash, a snakebite, a fall into a toilet pit, and a fire set at his home by neighbors who feared him. In each case, he was pronounced dead before reviving, once spending three days in a morgue before regaining consciousness.
Instead of being seen as a survivor, Azizi became an object of fear. Locals linked his repeated returns to dark magic and witchcraft, with some accusing him of supernatural powers.
The suspicion led to his isolation. His family distanced themselves, and neighbors stopped supporting him. In one instance, his house was set on fire out of fear.
Today, Azizi lives alone in a run-down house, supporting himself through small farming, cooking, and cleaning. He says he is viewed as either cursed or immortal, and receives no help from the community.
Despite the fear and rejection, Azizi says he remains peaceful but tired. He told Afrimax that every time he came back to life, his body felt strange and people began treating him as if he were a witch.
