Alhaji Adamu Ibrahim Getso, former Managing Director of Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) and Radio Kano, has passed away. He was a renowned journalist and broadcaster with a career spanning several decades, working with prominent radio stations like Kano State Radio Corporation, Freedom Radio, Premier Radio, and Vision FM.
Getso was known for his eloquence, professionalism, and commitment to public service broadcasting. He served as a Commissioner in several ministries, including Works and Housing, Commerce and Industry, and Lands and Regional Planning in the former Kano State. He was also the Founder and Chairman of Shimalcom Limited, a private communications company.
Getso’s contributions to journalism and broadcasting earned him recognition and respect among his peers. He was a mentor to many young journalists and advocated for press freedom and professional excellence.
He has since been buried according to Islamic rite.
