A bandit leader, Muhammadu Kachalla, has revealed why he failed to release the wife of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar. In a leaked audio, Kachalla said he had initially agreed to release the general’s wife but changed his mind due to the heavy security presence in the area.
“I had promised to release the general’s wife, but the increased security presence made me backtrack. If I had released her, they would have claimed they rescued her,” Kachalla said.
The bandit leader also expressed frustration over the arrest of his associates, threatening to kill General Rabe if his parents were among those detained.
The Katsina State Government has vowed to rescue General Rabe and his wife, stating that security efforts are yielding results. Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has directed security agencies to prioritize the rescue mission.
