The Chairman of Talata Mafara Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Yahaya Abubakar Yari, has declared that his administration will not tolerate any form of negotiation with bandits operating within the area.
In a video circulating online, Yari warned that anyone found engaging in negotiations or making unauthorized peace deals with bandits would be arrested and made to face the law.
According to the council chairman, the policy reflects the local government’s determination to support security agencies in confronting criminal groups rather than encouraging agreements that could embolden them.
His remarks underscore a hardline approach to tackling banditry, emphasizing law enforcement and coordinated security operations over informal negotiations.
The statement comes amid ongoing efforts by security agencies and government authorities to curb banditry and restore peace across communities in Zamfara State.
