The National Secretary of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), Kabiru Haruna Gombe, has praised the Kano State Government’s mass wedding initiative, describing it as a life-changing programme that restores dignity, strengthens families, and promotes moral values in society.
Speaking during the mass wedding ceremony held at Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano, Kabiru Gombe commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for sustaining the programme, saying it has brought hope to thousands of young men, women, widows, and less privileged families who could not afford the cost of marriage.
He expressed optimism that the continuation of the initiative would earn the governor widespread public support, declaring that if the administration remains committed to expanding the programme, religious scholars and many citizens would continue to stand behind him you politically.
According to him, the mass wedding scheme is not merely a social welfare project but a practical effort to reduce hardship, discourage immoral behaviour, and encourage lawful marriages in accordance with Islamic teachings.
Kabiru Gombe noted that many families have benefited immensely from the programme, stressing that helping people to marry is an investment in peace, social stability, and the future of the state.
He was quoted as saying that if Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf continues with the mass wedding programme, “we will support you up to your second term and even beyond,” a statement that drew applause from participants and guests at the event.
The Izala leader further urged wealthy individuals, corporate organisations, and philanthropists to complement government efforts by sponsoring similar initiatives aimed at supporting marriage and family development across the state.
He also encouraged the newly married couples to build their homes on love, patience, mutual respect, and the fear of God, reminding them that successful marriages require commitment, sacrifice, and understanding from both spouses.
The endorsement from the National Secretary of JIBWIS is expected to further boost public attention on Kano’s mass wedding programme, which has become one of the state’s flagship social intervention initiatives, earning commendation from religious leaders and community stakeholders for promoting family values and providing relief to thousands of beneficiaries.
