Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with professional bodies to drive strategic governance, highlighting proactive mentorship as an essential catalyst for institutional growth and effective leadership.
Speaking through the Commissioner of Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, who represented the governor as patron at the maiden Bashir Adamu Chedi Annual Memorial Lecture, Sani extended goodwill to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and commended the Kaduna State chapter for establishing the initiative.
The lecture, themed “Bridging Generations: Strengthening Public Relations Through Mentorship,” provided a platform to reflect on professional guidance, ethical practice and institutional development within the industry.
Delivering remarks on behalf of the state government, Maiyaki pointed to Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris as an exemplary mentor who guided numerous communications professionals into leadership roles long before his cabinet appointment.
Maiyaki challenged the prevailing societal habit of recognising accomplished individuals only after their passing.
He revealed that mentees of the minister are actively organising a dedicated event to celebrate his contributions during his lifetime so he can witness their gratitude.
Reflecting on the legacy of the late Mallam Bashir Adamu Chedi, the commissioner emphasised the importance of selfless service and called on public servants to maximise every opportunity to mentor younger generations and serve humanity.
The state government expressed confidence that the annual memorial lecture would serve as a sustained platform for knowledge transfer, professional excellence and leadership development across the region.
