A fire outbreak has destroyed property worth about N20 million at the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, Kano State.
The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Kano Command, said the incident occurred on Wednesday. The emergency call was received at about 11:38 a.m. after university security personnel reported the fire.
According to the FFS, the fire affected files and other materials in an office at the Department of Architecture. Firefighters from the FFS and Kano State Fire Service worked together to put out the blaze.
The service said property worth about N700 million was involved in the incident, while assets valued at approximately N680 million were saved. It added that the fire was suspected to have been caused by damaged electrical wiring.
The FFS has ordered a full investigation to establish the actual cause of the fire. The Kano State Controller of the service, DCF Sadiq Usman Mahmud, urged institutions and members of the public to regularly inspect electrical installations and replace faulty wiring.
