Your Excellency,
I write this open letter with a deep sense of responsibility, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to the peace, progress, and stability of Niger State. As a Public Analyst, Commentator, and Good Governance Advocate, I consider it my duty to speak on issues that directly affect the wellbeing of our people.
Your administration has shown remarkable determination in repositioning Niger State—especially through agricultural transformation, infrastructural renewal, and your bold “New Niger Agenda.” For this, Your Excellency deserves commendation.
However, there remains one critical area requiring immediate attention:
Security.
After carefully reviewing the profiles and resumes of the 30 Commissioner-designates currently attending their retreat before swearing-in, it has become evident that none of the nominees possess any professional background in security, policing, military service, intelligence operations, counter-terrorism, or conflict management.
Your Excellency, Niger State is today confronted with one of the most serious security challenges in its history—banditry, kidnapping, rural displacement, violent crimes, and attacks on farmlands and communities. This reality demands that security expertise must sit at the highest levels of state decision-making.
The Executive Council cannot afford to operate without at least one seasoned professional in the security sector.
Every modern government—state or federal—ensures that individuals with military, policing, or intelligence experience are part of its strategic leadership. This is not a matter of politics; it is a matter of survival and safeguarding the future of our dear state.
Your Excellency, as the Chief Security Officer of Niger State, you need a strong, technically skilled team around you—individuals who understand operational tactics, threat analysis, security architecture, intelligence coordination, and crisis response.
This gap in expertise is too important to ignore.
MY HUMBLE AND URGENT RECOMMENDATION
That Your Excellency immediately considers appointing at least one or more qualified security professionals—retired military officers, police commissioners, intelligence experts, or trained security strategists—into appropriate positions within your administration.
This will:
- Strengthen policy formulation and
security planning - Enhance coordination with federal
security agencies - Improve community-level intelligence
gathering - Boost public confidence in government
- Support your development agenda by
stabilizing the security environment
Your Excellency, Nigerlites trust you. They believe in your vision. But no government can deliver its goals without securing its people first. Development cannot thrive where insecurity persists.
I write this letter not as criticism, but as a patriotic call for correction, balance, and strengthened leadership capacity in the area that matters most right now: the safety of our citizens.
May Almighty Allah guide you as you continue to steer the affairs of our beloved state.
With highest regards,
Alh. Lawal Ibrahim, FCAI
