The EFCC told the Special Offences Court in Lagos that former AMCON chief Ahmed Kuru, together with Kamilu Omokide, Captain Roy Ilegbodu, Union Bank and Super Bravo Ltd., siphoned *N4.9 billion* from the defunct Arik Air and used it to launch NG Eagle Airlines.
Investigators presented a board resolution showing an Arik Air engine was leased back to the airline, with the rent funnelled into an AMCON remittal account.
They also showed two big transfers – *N1.9 bn* and *N4.9 bn* – from Arik’s accounts to cover NG Eagle’s staff salaries, operational costs and quarterly financial obligations.
The court heard that while Kuru was still AMCON MD and Omokide acted as receiver‑manager, the funds were moved despite Arik being under receivership only from February 2017. Letters from 2010‑2011, a 2015 general indemnity and even a 2010 approval for a N100 million payment were tendered as evidence .
The case has been adjourned to January 2‑3 2026 for further hearing.
*Key points*
– *N4.9 bn* diverted from Arik Air.
– Used to set up and run *NG Eagle* (staff salaries, expenses).
– Involved ex‑AMCON boss *Ahmed Kuru* and co‑defendants.
– Trial continues early next year.
