Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday received a delegation led by Senator Wamakko and Ahmed Aliyu, Governor of Sokoto State, along with newly-named ambassador-designate Hajiya Kulu Haruna Abubakar, for a courtesy visit following her nomination.
The visit, which underscores Sokoto’s gratitude for her selection, provided the ambassador-designate an opportunity to brief the President on preparations ahead of her diplomatic assignment representing Nigeria.
The gesture comes in the wake of a fresh batch of 65 ambassadorial nominees forwarded to the Senate by President Tinubu for confirmation part of his broader diplomatic reset and foreign-policy agenda.
Officials say the Sokoto delegation used the visit not only to thank the President but also to highlight the importance of strong representation and the expectations that Sokoto’s envoy will bring dignity and service to the role.
Observers interpret the meeting as signal of the administration’s intent to maintain inclusive representation from all regions of the federation in its diplomatic corps.
