The African Democratic Congress (ADC) secretariat in Edo State was attacked by suspected thugs, resulting in damage to property.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night at around 8 pm at the party’s office on Ogbelaka Street, Benin City.
The attackers, who arrived in a white bus, shattered windows, destroyed party billboards, and attempted to set the building ablaze by pouring fuel around it.
ADC Edo State Chairman, Kennedy Odion, condemned the attack, alleging that it was orchestrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to intimidate the opposition.
“Some politicians want the ADC to leave the state so that no other political party will contest the 2027 election with them,” Odion said.
The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the incident and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. Security has been deployed to the area to prevent further attacks.
The ADC has called on security agencies to take action and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. The party sees this as part of a broader pattern of intimidation and suppression of opposition voices.
