
Former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has condemned the recent suicide bombings in Maiduguri, Borno State, which killed 23 people and injured over 100 others.
In a statement, Kwankwaso described the attacks as “horrific” and a setback to the peace achieved in the state.
He urged the government and security forces to take decisive action against the terrorists, saying “now is not the time for defensiveness or complacency”.
Kwankwaso expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Borno State, emphasizing the need for urgent action to prevent further attacks.
The bombings, attributed to Boko Haram/ISWAP, targeted crowded locations, including the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and Monday Market.
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, also condemned the attacks, describing them as “barbaric and inhumane”. The police have confirmed the death toll and assured the public of increased security measures to prevent further incidents.
