Asiya Ahmed El-Rufai, one of the wives of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, was denied entry through the main gate of the Federal High Court in Kaduna where her husband was arraigned by the ICPC.
This incident comes amid allegations of harassment and human rights violations against El-Rufai’s family.
El-Rufai is facing multiple charges, including abuse of office, fraud, and money laundering, with his trial set to commence today, March 24, 2026.
His lawyers have challenged the legitimacy of his detention, arguing that it violates his fundamental rights.
The ICPC, however, maintains that El-Rufai’s detention is lawful and part of ongoing investigations.
In a related development, the Court of Appeal has ordered a fresh hearing of El-Rufai’s suit against the Kaduna State House of Assembly, citing denial of fair hearing.
The appellate court nullified the High Court’s judgment, which had dismissed El-Rufai’s case, and ordered the matter to be reassigned to another judge.
