The Department of State Services (DSS) has re-arrested former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, sparking controversy over alleged disregard for court orders.
El-Rufai was taken into DSS custody after a court session in Abuja, despite orders directing he remain with the ICPC.
El-Rufai’s family alleges DSS operatives violated court orders, taking him into custody instead of returning him to ICPC.
His wife, Hasiat, said he resisted, citing the orders. His son, Bello, called it a “political vendetta”.
The ICPC had granted El-Rufai bail, but DSS took him into custody. The move has raised questions about institutional coordination and El-Rufai’s rights.
El-Rufai’s family condemns the re-arrest, saying it’s a “political vendetta”. His son criticized the bail conditions as “intentionally prohibitive”.
