Gombe, Nigeria – The Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahya, has vowed to dismantle all “Gala” houses in the state, citing concerns over drug abuse and prostitution.
The governor made the announcement during the launch of the Gombe State Geographical Information System (GoGIS) on Thursday.
According to Governor Yahya, the “Gala” houses have become hubs for social vices, including drug abuse and prostitution, and are a threat to the state’s security and moral fabric.
He warned that his administration will not tolerate any form of illicit activity in the state and will take drastic measures to ensure that all “Gala” houses are shut down.
The governor’s stance has been welcomed by residents, who are calling for an end to the social vices plating the state. The dismantling of the “Gala” houses is part of the state’s efforts to combat drug abuse and promote a healthy and safe environment for its citizens.
The conditions for dismantling the “Gala” houses include:
- Suspected involvement in drug abuse and trafficking
- Prostitution and other forms of social vices
- Undermining of state security and moral fabric
- Non-compliance with state laws and regulations
The Gombe State Government has assured citizens that it will work with security agencies to ensure that the “Gala” houses are dismantled and those involved in social vices are brought to justice.
