
The Governing Council of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) has dismissed Isah Yusuf Tsafe, the Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), for gross misconduct, negligence, and failure to account for university assets under his custody. The decision was announced in a statement by Jamilu Magaji, Head of Information and Public Relations at the university.
According to the statement, Tsafe’s dismissal followed disciplinary proceedings that established allegations of misconduct against him. In a separate action, the council also demoted Abdullahi Mohammed Adamu, an ICT staff member, by one grade level and barred him from promotion for five years for engaging in financial transactions with parents of admission seekers and involvement in admission-related matters.
The university’s Governing Council has directed management to recover or surcharge the value of outstanding university property linked to the case. This move reflects the council’s commitment to upholding merit, discipline, and professionalism in university administration.
The dismissal and demotion demonstrate FUBK’s zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct and corruption. The university has also approved the promotion of five academic staff to the rank of Associate Professor (Reader).
