The Kano State Government is facing criticism for allegedly gifting 1,540 plots of land and N100 million to members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) amidst widespread poverty among residents.
The move has sparked outrage, with many questioning the government’s priorities.
According to reports, the land gifts were allocated to prominent APC members, including traditional rulers, politicians, and government officials. The beneficiaries paid minimal fees, ranging from N150,000 to N500,000, for infrastructural and application fees.
Critics argue that the government’s actions are unfair, especially considering the poverty and hardship faced by many Kano residents. The state’s allocation of resources has raised concerns about favoritism and corruption.
The Kano State Government has not publicly commented on the allegations. However, similar controversies have emerged in other states, such as Gombe, where a governor was accused of gifting N315 million and land to a Kano-based singer.
The incident highlights concerns about government accountability and transparency in Nigeria. Many are calling for investigations into the land allocation and cash gifts.
