Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has provided business capital support to 1,116 young entrepreneurs operating street businesses across Kano metropolis, with each beneficiary receiving N50,000 to expand their businesses.
The total value of the support is N55.8 million.
Speaking during the distribution exercise at the Kano Government House, Governor Yusuf said the initiative was part of the promises his administration made to the youth during the election campaign, assuring that his government would continue to fulfill its commitments to the people.
The Governor said he appreciates the immense love and support shown to him by the youth of Kano, adding that the gesture motivated his administration to introduce programmes aimed at improving their livelihoods and promoting self-reliance.
He assured that his government would not relent in empowering young people through various interventions designed to reduce unemployment, encourage entrepreneurship, and strengthen the state’s economy.
Governor Yusuf noted that he is fully aware of the locations where young people engage in street trading across Kano city, describing them as hardworking citizens who have chosen to pursue legitimate means of livelihood.
He commended the beneficiaries for embracing entrepreneurship and promised continued support to ensure that young people have opportunities to grow their businesses and improve their standard of living.
