Residents of Lalle in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State are fleeing their homes with nowhere to go, as bandits continue to terrorize the community. The latest attack has left many without shelter, food, or access to basic necessities.
According to reports, at least 15 communities have been deserted following coordinated bandit attacks in Tureta and Sabon Birni local government areas of Sokoto State.
The attacks have resulted in the deaths of at least 52 people, with hundreds more displaced.
The situation is dire, with residents struggling to access food, water, and medical care.
Meanwhile, the Sokoto State Emergency Management Agency, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency and the Nigerian Red Cross Society, has launched an assessment to identify urgent needs and coordinate relief efforts.
The Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, Idris Mohammed Gobir, has expressed concern over the dual impact of flooding and banditry, promising government intervention. However, some residents are skeptical, citing inadequate security measures and slow response to their relief materials.
The attacks have sparked widespread concern, with calls for increased security measures and support for affected communities. As the situation continues to unfold, residents are urging the government to take decisive action to address the insecurity in Sokoto State.
