The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, identified as Peter Sinamai, over the alleged killing of his biological father and dumping of the corpse in a well in Sangere Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
Sinamai was arrested following a report received by the police, which prompted operatives to commence an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to the Command on Friday, preliminary findings indicated that the suspect allegedly killed his father before disposing of his body in a well within the community.
The police said the victim’s remains have since been recovered and deposited at a mortuary for autopsy as investigators work to establish the circumstances and motive behind the alleged killing.
The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Umar Hassan, has ordered a discreet and thorough investigation into the case.
The Command said the suspect would be charged to court upon the completion of the investigation.
Hassan condemned the alleged act and assured members of the public that the police would pursue the case to ensure justice is served.
He also urged members of the public to resolve family disputes through lawful and peaceful means, while encouraging those facing conflicts to seek appropriate intervention before disagreements escalate.
The police said further developments on the case would be communicated as the investigation progresses.
