ABUJA — The push for Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna to become Gombe State’s next governor gathered fresh energy on Sunday, August 31, 2026, after stakeholders from across the state met for the second time in Abuja to harmonize strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
The gathering, tagged the Second Gombe State Stakeholders Engagement Meeting, brought together political leaders, strategists and community representatives under one roof. Their goal was simple: deepen consultations, strengthen coordination, and build a wider base of support for Dr. Gwamna, Sardaunan Gombe, and other APC candidates.
The meeting drew high-profile presence that gave it added weight. In attendance were the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, and the pioneer Military Administrator of Gombe State, Group Captain Joseph Orji, rtd. Their participation signaled how seriously the 2027 contest is being taken within the All Progressives Congress.
Malam Ribadu addressed the forum with insights on party cohesion and election security. He stressed the need for unity, early grassroots mobilization, and a message that resonates with voters across Gombe’s 11 local government areas. Stakeholders said his input helped sharpen the group’s political direction.
Group Captain Orji, who helped lay the foundation of Gombe State, also spoke. He reminded participants of the importance of inclusive politics and peaceful engagement. His experience, stakeholders noted, offered a historical perspective on building a state that works for all.
The Facilitator and Co-Convener, Dr. Aliyu Modibbo Umar, a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, led the deliberations. He thanked both Malam Ribadu and Group Captain Orji for honoring the invitation, saying their contributions gave the meeting both direction and credibility.
According to Dr. Modibbo, the Abuja engagement marks a shift from mere talks to real organization. He said what began as consultations is now growing into a broad movement focused on strengthening the APC and positioning Dr. Gwamna for the governorship.
“The message from Abuja is clear,” Dr. Modibbo said. “The consultations are deepening, the coalition is expanding, the structures are being strengthened, and the necessary groundwork is being laid.” He added that the forum will continue to engage communities to ensure the party enters 2027 united.
