The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has launched the Safe Nigeria Initiative, a youth-focused program aimed at tackling insecurity in Nigeria.
Similarly , the Office of the NSA Nuhu Ribadu, has also recruited Forest Guards across the country to address insecurity. This Initiatives, also known as Youth Empowerment for Peace and Resilience, will empower 11,000 young people with skills, livelihoods, psychosocial support, and civic awareness to reduce their susceptibility to recruitment by criminal and extremist groups.
The program is designed to complement Nigeria’s counterterrorism and security operations by addressing underlying social and economic factors contributing to insecurity.
It will offer vocational training, entrepreneurial support, peacebuilding education, and psychosocial care to youths, particularly in vulnerable and conflict-affected communities.
Ribadu emphasized that the initiative is part of the government’s efforts to address the root causes of insecurity, such as poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion.
The program aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, focusing on people-centered, non-kinetic security interventions.
