Oseni argues that the amendment has loopholes that could compromise electoral integrity, particularly the removal of “real-time” electronic transmission of results.
The controversy surrounds the National Assembly’s decision to allow manual transmission of results via Form EC8A in case of internet failure, which critics see as a recipe for manipulation.
Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has also spoken out against the amendment, stating that real-time electronic transmission is essential to preventing manipulation .
Oseni’s criticism comes as opposition parties and civil society groups express concerns about the amendment’s implications for Nigeria’s democracy.
