
Ex-governor of Sokoto State, who is representing Sokoto South Senatorial seat, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has vowed not to abandon the ship, stating that the party will challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections, saying “it’s the people who elect, not governors”.
Tambuwal made this statement on Thursday, March 6, 2026, emphasizing that they will work to oust the APC in 2027.
Tambuwal, a former Governor of Sokoto State from 2015 to 2023, and Eswhile Speaker at the NASS, criticized the APC’s governance, alleging that they have deviated from democratic principles.
He also spoke about the marginalization of the PDP and other opposition parties.

Tambuwal emphasized that they will not run away from the challenge, stating “we won’t run, we’ll defeat the APC in 2027”.
