Aminu Ado Bayero, the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, has notified the Nigeria Police Force of his plans to proceed with Sallah Durbar festivities, despite the ongoing controversy surrounding his dethronement.
The move comes after a court ruling reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi II as the 16th Emir of Kano, sparking tensions between the two royal figures.
The Kano State government had previously announced a ban on Durbar celebrations, citing security concerns.
However, Bayero’s notification to the police suggests he may defy the ban, further escalating tensions in the emirate.
