The Zamfara State Government has organized a mass wedding for 100 individuals from vulnerable groups across the state’s 14 local government areas. Governor Dauda Lawal stated that this initiative is part of his administration’s commitment to supporting the less privileged and improving their lives.
Representing the governor, Deputy Governor Mani Mummuni emphasized the government’s dedication to uplifting the lives of those in need. The government paid a dowry of ₦200,000 for each bride and provided a ₦50,000 grant for them to start small businesses.
The Emir of Kaura Namoda, Alhaji Sanusi Muhammad Asha, represented the brides and handed them over to their husbands according to Islamic principles. The governor presented marriage certificates and household items to the couples, advising them on the importance of mutual respect and peace in their homes.
Governor Lawal urged the couples to respect one another and live in peace, saying, “Respect one another and live in peace to build good homes that will bring the blessings of the Lord.” Top government officials contributed ₦5 million to support the new couples.
The Chairman of the Zamfara State Hisbah Commission, Sheikh Umar Hassan, praised the government’s initiative, commending efforts to build permanent offices for the commission in all local government areas. This, he said, will improve the commission’s operations and service to the community.
The mass wedding ceremony brought together community leaders, government officials, and beneficiaries, highlighting the state’s commitment to social welfare. The event showcased the government’s focus on supporting vulnerable groups and promoting community development.
This initiative is expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the beneficiaries, providing them with a strong foundation for their new families. The government’s support is seen as a significant boost to their future prospects.
