Family members, friends, and colleagues have raised alarm over the disappearance of Eunice Ameh, a young lawyer and serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who reportedly went missing in Abuja under unclear circumstances.
According to family sources, Ameh was last seen on Tuesday evening after leaving her workplace in the Maitama area of the Federal Capital Territory. She had recently secured employment as a Sales Manager at Blades and Butchers Ltd., a livestock and value-added products company located on Lake Chad Crescent in Maitama.
Sources close to the family disclosed that she resumed at the company barely two weeks before her disappearance and was preparing to complete her NYSC programme.
“She was meant to participate in her final Community Development Service (CDS) this week and pass out soon after,” a family source was quoted as saying.
Reports indicated that Ameh left her office around 5:40 p.m. and was heading toward the Life Camp axis of Abuja, where she resides in a corps members’ lodge.
Concern grew after repeated efforts to contact her failed, as all her phone lines reportedly remained switched off.
The disappearance reportedly came to the family’s attention after one of her friends alerted relatives that she had not returned home and could no longer be reached.
The matter has since been reported to the Maitama Police Division and NYSC authorities, while security agencies have reportedly commenced efforts to trace her whereabouts.
Family members described the development as traumatic and said they remain hopeful that investigations will lead to her safe return.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from the spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command regarding the incident, and no ransom demand had reportedly been made.
