A woman abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State, has shared a harrowing account of her 14-day ordeal in the hands of kidnappers, revealing that her release was secured after her family paid a ransom of N15 million.
The victim, who chose to remain anonymous for safety reasons, said the incident happened in June 2025 when she was returning home after completing a business delivery in the Abegunde Babalola area near Orita.
She explained that the attack occurred in the evening hours between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., when she was suddenly confronted by armed men who forced her into their vehicle.
According to her, her children were close by during the incident, but the attackers only targeted her and left them behind.
The woman said she was taken to an undisclosed location where she remained alone throughout her captivity, unable to identify any of the abductors because they kept their identities hidden.
She described the experience as deeply traumatic, noting that fear and uncertainty defined every day of her detention.
She also recalled that her birthday fell during the period she was held captive, a moment that intensified her emotional distress.
While speaking, she said one of the kidnappers eventually showed her some kindness after noticing her sadness, offering her food during her stay.
She further revealed that she was allowed to observe her religious practices after informing her captors of her faith.
However, she emphasized that such gestures did little to ease the psychological pain she endured.
After two weeks in captivity, she said her family was forced to pay N15 million before she was finally released.
The woman expressed gratitude for her freedom but called on authorities to strengthen security efforts and curb the rising wave of kidnappings across the country
