Troops have arrested several suspects in connection with the recent attack on the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, in Kuru, Plateau State. Two of the suspects were arrested while receiving treatment for gunshot injuries.
The institute came under attack days ago by gunmen who stormed the facility. Security personnel engaged the attackers, forcing many of them to flee with injuries.
Following the incident, troops launched a manhunt in surrounding communities. During the operation, security forces tracked and arrested the suspects, including those who had gone to a local clinic to treat gunshot wounds.

Military sources said weapons, ammunition and other items believed to have been used in the attack were recovered from the suspects. Investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the gang.

The two suspects with gunshot injuries are currently receiving medical attention under military custody. Authorities said they will be interrogated and charged to court after treatment.
Management of NIPSS has commended the troops for their swift response. They said the institute remains committed to its mandate despite the attack and called for improved security around the campus.
The Plateau State Government also condemned the attack and assured residents that those behind it will be brought to justice. It urged citizens to volunteer information to security agencies.
The military said the arrested suspects are providing useful information that could lead to more arrests. Troops have intensified patrols around Kuru and other vulnerable areas to prevent a repeat.
