The Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded the children of slain businessman Godwin Chinedu Lucky Adimike in prison, with the police adding a same-sex union charge to their case. The children, Anthony Odirachukwumma Adimike and Stephanie Chinyere Adimike, along with a family friend, Comfort Ajibade, were detained after Adimike’s death was discovered on May 15, 2026.
The applicants’ lawyer, Chibuzor Obiajunwa, has filed a fundamental rights enforcement suit against the Nigeria Police Force, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Commissioner of Police of the Federal Capital Territory Command, Abuja, seeking their immediate release from police custody ¹ ².
The police have been accused of violating the applicants’ constitutional rights, including their right to life, dignity, personal liberty, and freedom of movement. The applicants are seeking an order directing the police to charge them or anyone of them before an appropriate court if a prima facie case is established.
