The Governing Council of Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse, has commended Mr. Shamsuddeen Hussaini, an Executive Officer in the Registry Department, for rejecting a ₦1 million bribe aimed at compromising academic integrity. The decision was made during the Council’s 9th Regular Meeting on July 3, 2026.
Hussaini reportedly turned down the offer, citing the institution’s core values and promptly reported the incident through official channels. The Council praised his honesty, diligence, and commitment to upholding the Polytechnic’s reputation.
The Registrar, Mallam Ismaila Umar, disclosed that the Council directed the institution to formally notify the Jigawa State Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (MOHEST) of Hussaini’s exemplary conduct and recommend him for official recognition.
Hussaini’s actions demonstrate exceptional professionalism and ethical responsibility, reflecting the highest standards of integrity. The Council approved a ₦100,000 cash reward and a Letter of Commendation for his outstanding service.
