Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna’s governorship campaign in Gombe State has received a fresh boost following the resignation of Hon. Muhammad Buhari Dalhatu, who served as Special Adviser on Youth Leadership and Community Engagement to Professor Ali Isa Pantami.
According to a press statement issued on Saturday by Gwamna’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Sani Shawai, Dalhatu has formally resigned from his advisory role and pledged his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring support for Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Shawai said Dalhatu’s decision represents another significant development for the APC governorship campaign, noting that it reflects growing support for Gwamna’s aspiration across different political circles in Gombe State.
He stated that Dalhatu’s resignation is notable because of the strategic position he previously occupied within Pantami’s political camp, adding that it is part of what he described as an emerging political realignment in the state.
The spokesperson also claimed that several other individuals who previously worked closely with Pantami had earlier aligned themselves with Gwamna.
He listed Affan Buba Abuya, a former Personal Assistant to Pantami, Sunusin Gombe, popularly known as Ameer, and Dahiru Saidu Nafada among those who have joined the APC candidate.
According to Shawai, the decision of Dahiru Saidu Nafada, whom he described as a respected political associate of Pantami, underscores what he called a growing shift in political support as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
He further stated that the recent defections suggest that several key figures who once occupied influential positions within Pantami’s political structure are now choosing a different political path by backing Gwamna’s governorship bid.
Shawai maintained that the latest political developments demonstrate increasing confidence in the APC and in Gwamna’s leadership, saying the changes reflect evolving political dynamics as Gombe State approaches another election cycle.
Welcoming Dalhatu into Gwamna’s political camp, Shawai said the APC governorship candidate believes the future of Gombe State should be built on “unity, competence, experience, continuity and a commitment to consolidate the achievements recorded under the administration of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.”
He added that the campaign remains committed to expanding its support base across the state ahead of the 2027 general
