The Kano State Police Command has warned politicians and their supporters against displaying weapons during political activities.
The Command said such conduct poses a threat to public peace, safety and security in the state.
The warning follows the circulation of a viral video on social media allegedly showing Hon. Aminu Abdullahi Warkal displaying a firearm suspected to be a pump-action rifle.
Police said the display of weapons at political gatherings is illegal and capable of inciting violence and fear among residents.
The Command has invited Hon. Warkal for questioning to explain the circumstances surrounding the video.
It said investigation will determine the authenticity of the video and whether any offence was committed.
The Police urged all political actors to conduct their activities within the ambit of the law and avoid actions that could heat up the polity.
It reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining law and order before, during and after the political season.
The Command also called on the public to report any suspicious display of arms or conduct likely to breach peace to security agencies.
