The Kano State Government has indeed approved Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, as its Chairman. This move is aimed to strengthen traditional institutions and promote peace, stability and foster development in Kano State.
The council inclyEmirs from Gaya, Karaye, and Rano as members, restoring a 700-years old legacy where Kano Emir’s were united under a single leadership.
Meanwhile, Governor Abba Yusuf has recently
inaugurate the council at the Government House, Kano last Monday.
Mr Yusuf noted in his speech that the reactivation of the council was aimed at fostering harmonious working relationships among the emirates and strengthening grassroots governance.
He urged the Emirs to cooperate in advancing the state’s development objectives.
In his remarks, the council’s chairman and Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, commended Yusuf for restoring the traditional council system.
Mr Sanusi assured that under his watch, the council would work collectively and offer credible advice to improve the welfare of the people.
He also praised the state government for its swift response to the security challenges in Kano which affect Shanono, Tsanyawa and Bagwai.
However, Sarkin Kano noted that re‑establishment of the traditional council is expected to enhance coordination between traditional leaders and the state administration, contributing to more effective policy implementation at the local level.
Earlier, Saturday, Former Governor of Kano Rabiu Kwankwaso shared his view of existence of illegitimate and legitimate Emir’s with one as fake while the other as original.
He was provoked to speak and shade more light on the existing throne that makes Kano down graded to what he described as unfortunate.
Both, Emir Sanusi and Aminu Ado Bayero were seen as birds of the same feather .
