Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, has accused Al Jazeera of editing his interview with Mehdi Hasan and inserting external footage, misrepresenting his statements.
Bwala expressed his disappointment, stating that the edited interview sparked widespread reactions online, with critics describing his performance as embarrassing.
Bwala defended his appearance on the show, saying he had no regrets defending the Tinubu administration and would do so again anywhere in the world.
He accused Hasan of using “opposition research-style journalism” and claimed some quotes attributed to him were inaccurate or “outright fake news”.
The controversy surrounds Bwala’s past criticisms of President Tinubu, which were highlighted during the interview.
Bwala admitted to making those statements but described them as “all politics,” noting that many political figures who previously criticized leaders later served in their administrations.
