
Mahmud Abubakar, the Sonfada Etsu Nupe, has passed away, sparking widespread mourning in Niger State and the Nupe Kingdom. The Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, described the late Sonfada as a pious, loyal, and dedicated personality who served the emirate with utmost commitment and sincerity.
Governor Umaru Bago of Niger State expressed deep sorrow over the development, extending condolences to the Etsu Nupe and the Bida Emirate.
He described the loss as a “colossal loss” to the Nupe Kingdom and Niger State, praying that Allah forgives the late Sonfada’s shortcomings and grants him Aljannat Firdaus.
The Etsu Nupe recalled the late Sonfada’s significant contributions to the growth and development of the Nupe Kingdom, noting that his service, wisdom, and commitment to humanity would be remembered for many years. The governor urged the family to remain steadfast in prayers for the repose of his soul and to uphold the noble values he represented.
The late Sonfada was known for his honesty, humility, and unwavering dedication to duty, making him a strong pillar in the palace and a reliable servant of the emirate. His passing has drawn tributes from royal aides, community members, and government officials across the state.
