A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the forfeiture of 48 properties worth N212 billion linked to former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami. The properties include a mosque in Kano valued at N84 million.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) secured the forfeiture, claiming the properties were proceeds of unlawful activities. Malami has challenged the order, arguing the properties were legitimately acquired.
The forfeited properties span Abuja, Kebbi, Kano, and Kaduna, including luxury hotels and residential estates. This move is part of the EFCC’s efforts to recover stolen assets.
Malami’s assets, including the mosque, were seized due to suspicions of corruption. The court ruled that the properties were acquired with illegitimate funds.
